Nevada Tribal Summit 2019
The 2019 Nevada Tribal Summit on Brain Health and Dementia, held on August 22, 2019, was a tremendous success! Over 100 attendees from across the state came to engage in discussion, and a total of 14 tribes were represented at the event.

Mike Splaine, Owner and Principal of Splaine Consulting, spoke about the importance and collaborative development of the CDC Healthy Brain Initiative’s Road Map for Indian Country.

Dave Baldridge (Cherokee), Executive Director of the International Association for Indigenous Aging (IA2), spoke about customization and implementation the Road Map for Indian Country.

Dr. Peter Reed, Director of the Sanford Center for Aging at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, spoke about the Sanford Center’s comprehensive geriatric assessment clinic and how all Nevada tribes can access this resource both in-person and through telehealth.

Dr. J. Neil Henderson (Oklahoma Choctaw), Executive Director of the Memory Keepers Medical Discovery Team on Health Disparities and Professor in the Department of Family Medicine & Bio-Behavioral Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School, spoke about Dementia and Diabetes among Native people.
