Dementia Friends Information Session – Sparks Library

May 16 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm PDT

Free

Let’s Make Washoe County Dementia Friendly!

You’re invited to become a Dementia Friend!

At this information session, you’ll learn five key messages about dementia, what it’s like to live with dementia, and how to translate this new understanding into practical actions that can help people with dementia who are living in our community. RSVP is helpful but not required, see below.

Consider Our Community

By 2030, 27% of Washoe County (161,000 individuals) will be 55 and older. For those 65+, one in nine have dementia. For 85+, one in three have dementia. A 2017 Dementia Community Needs Assessment in Washoe County found that many respondents have less awareness and were less comfortable around people living with dementia. A friend might be a care partner for someone living with dementia and a family member could be living with dementia. How can you address these needs?
