Dementia Friendly Washoe County Community Group Meeting
April 9 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am PDT
Come join Dementia Friendly Washoe County at our monthly Community Group Meeting!
Dementia Friendly Washoe County (DFWC) is a volunteer-driven movement to develop and promote a community that is respectful, educated, supportive, and inclusive of people living with dementia and their care partners. At DFWC, people living with dementia are considered the true experts: experts of lived experience.
DFWC members living with dementia are part of every dialogue within the group and are truly the driving force behind the changes DFWC is working toward in our community. Rather than applying solutions that we think are appropriate, we circulated a survey open to all community members asking what they thought were the most important areas of need regarding dementia-friendliness and inclusivity. Our programs directly address those gap areas.
At our Community Group meetings, we spend some time getting to know each other, learn about a topic related to dementia, share stories of our own lived experience, and ponder possibilities for future action.
We meet on the second Thursday of each month, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM.
For April, due to concerns related to COVID-19, we are meeting virtually via Zoom if you are already on our mailing list, you will receive a link to access the Zoom meeting the week prior to the meeting. If you are not on our mailing list and would like to attend the virtual meeting, please contact Jennifer Carson at [email protected] or 775-682-9444.
